Manchester 3000 is back and bigger than ever before!

For those who don’t already know, Manchester 3000 is our annual super-event which involves pushing your physical and mental boundaries to the limit, all in the name of charity.

We’re a big fan of endurance events here at Frazer John. This stems from our Founder, John Dyson who likes to champion a healthy lifestyle from gruelling half marathons to bootcamp 3 times a week. For the last three years we’ve held an endurance event of our own and one truly unique to Manchester.

With the continued support of Andy Burnham, we’re making 2018 our biggest yet!

What’s involved?

Sweat, endurance and most importantly the support of hundreds of local businesses.

The idea is simple; we scale Manchester’s skyline by climbing the stairs (up and down) of its tallest and most iconic buildings all in the name of charity.

The climb is roughly 3000 ft. with a 5 mile run in between buildings (depending on the finalised route).

The prospect seemed ridiculous at first, but it was endurance we were looking for, and it felt fitting to aim high when at ground level the homeless situation in Manchester was spiralling out of control.

After the hard work is done, all groups will finish up at Walrus, where everyone can enjoy a drink together with a few nibbles to celebrate the achievement. There will also be the chance to win some pretty awesome prizes too including a 1 year FREE membership at The Gym Group, Portland Street.

How will it work?

The date: Friday 29th June (approx. 3pm)

The route: All participants will meet at a central point for a group warm up led by The Gym Group, Portland Street. From there, you’ll split into your teams and be led around the route by one of our team leaders. Buildings will include a similar line up to previous years – CIS Tower (Coop Bank), City Tower, Manchester One, One New York Street (our headquarters) and more.

The cost: Manchester 3000 is FREE to take part in, all we ask is that each participant raises a minimum of £10 each before the big day. You will also have the option to upgrade to a Super Supporter which includes a T-shirt and prize draw entry for just £10.

The legal stuff: Insurance for this event has been generously provided by The Insurance Octopus.

Who can join?

Unlike previous years where we’ve had solo entrants we are now inviting local businesses to each field a team of participants with a view of increasing participation, but crucially raising as much money and awareness as possible. Teams can have anything between 2-8 members.

Each participant will register as a Rookie, Intermediate or Athlete and all groups will have a mixture of each. Athletes in each group go first and once they reach the top they turn around and descend. Intermediates and Rookies can turn and descend as soon as someone passes them going down. This ensures everyone can take part at their own pace.

Our Charity Partner

Our chosen charity is Big Change Manchester. Big Change delivers money directly to those who need it most through a raft of charities and volunteer groups who devote their time to helping others. To date, they’ve raised over £200k and directly supported 1000+ homeless people get off the streets.

Big Change works because it allows collective ownership of the colossal problem our city faces. To make lasting change it’s imperative that more people get involved.

Manchester 3000 aims to engage the local business community to take up the mantle and get involved to do our part in solving what is a one of the biggest issues our city faces.

Rough sleeping and homelessness affects real people and can destroy lives. It’s high time that we stop walking by and start climbing up (and down) to do what we can to help.

Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, is continuously working to improve Manchester’s homelessness and rough sleeping crisis
